Welcome to the Home of the Bangor Y Barracuda Swim Team!
IceBreaker Retreat swimmersIceBreaker Retreat Swimmers 2007
The Barracuda Swim Team is the Bangor Y's year-round competitive swim program. We aim to build a sense of community and team orientation in each of our members ~ male and female swimmers between the ages of 6 and 18. Each swimmer is provided with an opportunity to develop strong values, self-discipline, time management skills, and self-esteem in tandem with proper stroke mechanics. The team looks for swimmers who are sincerely interested in challenging themselves in the areas of mental and phsical training.

The Barracuda Swim Team's 2008-2009 winter roster currently includes over 70 swimmers. As we look forward to another exciting season, it is the goal of Coach Eric Palmer and the Barracuda coaching staff to develop the Barracuda Swim Team as one of the strongest YMCA/USA-S Age Group teams in Maine.

***This year's 'Cuda Swim Challenge hopes to be a nice team success.  The team swam their challenge lengths Tuesday (Veteran's Day); the evening ended with a team potluck supper.  Thank you to everyone who brought yummy dishes and tasty treats and to all the family members and friends who were on deck to count laps!  Pledges are due December 15th.  If all pledge packets are in before December 15th Coach Eric has a special team surprise!***

**Team suits and t-shirts will arrive in time for this weekend's home meet against Sanford.  This year's team caps have not yet arrived so last year's caps will suffice for this meet.  Suits and shirts will be distributed before Saturday's meet and will also be available before the meet in the Concessions area.  Please remember that the team handbook states ALL SWIMMERS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A TEAM SUIT (AND A TEAM CAP IF A CAP IS WORN DURING MEETS) FOR SWIM MEETS.**

***Don't forget to sign up for our upcoming November meets:  the 11/15 HOME Dual Meet vs. Sanford YMCA and the 11/22 AWAY Dual Meet vs. Auburn-Lewiston YMCA.  THERE WILL BE A BUS FOR THE LEWISTON MEET - SIGN-UP IS POSTED ON THE TEAM BULLETIN BOARD.  Please be sure to sign up through the on-line Meet RSVP (through Meeting Wizard) or by checking "yes" or "no" the old-fashioned way on the Meet Sign-In sheet on the team bulletin board.  Thanks in advance for signing in!***
